This game had a bit of a following during the late 80's- 90's.
It's been out of print for quite some time now. The
issued a number of classic teams as well as some complete seasons.
A unique thing about this company was that they gave
you 2 formats to
choose from when purchasing additional teams or seasons. You
either purchase teams with individual player cards (like APBA and
STRAT) or with all the info for the team presented in chart
the old S.I. BASEBALL games). And with the individual player
format you could not
only order individual teams but choose individual players as well.
The earlier games had cards that looked like they
came right off a
type-writer. The later cards were more polished.
As for the game itself the basic game play stayed more or less the same with additional rules being added as the years went by. There are basic, advanced, and super advanced rules. The game moves quickly in the basic version. You can play a basic game in about 1/2 hour. The more advanced versions allow you to pick and choose which rules you want to incorporate. Once you get the hang of these the game moves along pretty well in the advanced versions as well.
This listing is for a card set for use with the game.
There are no game components included. You need to
already own the game to use these cards. I have never seen
this set offered for sale before so I suspect it is quite rare.
The cards are in EXCELLENT condition. They appear to have been barely, if ever, played with. I checked all the cards against the included roster list and all the cards have been accounted for. The roster list also includes the 1919 White Sox and the 1975 and 1986 Red Sox. What the relationship of those 3 teams is to the 1941 season I don't know. In any case the set I have only includes the (8) 1941 A.L. teams. Overall I would grade the cards 8 on a 10 scale (see condition guide below).
MINT (10): I will only give this grade to brand new, unused items. NEAR MINT (9): Shows virtually no use. Seldom if ever played. Perhaps some very light handling creases to the instructions or other minor flaws with the game parts. Boxes will have only the slightest hint of shelf wear. EXCELLENT (7-8): The game has seen some use but it was obviously well taken care of. Game parts might have some light handling creases or other signs of careful use. Board might have just a hint of color loss or dented corners. Boxes will have light rubbing to the artwork or perhaps some minor dishing or a very light stain. VERY GOOD (5-6): The game was not especially well cared for but it still has faired pretty well. Game parts will show obvious use but nothing will be torn, badly stained or have any serious damage. Box may have some rubbing, light staining, dishing, 1 or 2 neatly split corners, minor writing and/or a few pieces of tape. No major structural damage and artwork will still be generally attractive. GOOD (3-4): Obviously no care was taken with the game but it is still playable as is. Game parts show considerable use but the game is complete with all parts in usable condition. Box may have staining, writing, split corners, dishing and/or other structural damage but it will be intact and still usable. POOR (1-2): Only suitable to fill a space in your collection. Game will be missing parts (these will be noted). Box will have serious damage and may be missing aprons or badly torn.
