CADACO
Ethan Allen All Star
Baseball Game 1961 Edition

Cadaco has been producing the ETHAN ALLAN ALL STAR BASEBALL GAME since the 1940's. It is in many ways the root of modern games like APBA and STRAT-O-MATIC. Very simple to play. You just put the disc in and spin the spinner to get the result of the at-bat.

Cadaco All Star Baseball Game Card 1961

The card set is overall in VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT condition. The game contains a complete set of 1961 edition player discs. These are all original, Cadaco-produced discs, not photocopies or home-made discs. Click HERE for a complete list of the players included with this set.

Cadaco All Star Baseball Game Discs 1961

I have inventoried and inspected the cards and every card has been accounted for. It appears that the discs were barely handled. Only a few discs have any creasing creases and none are torn. Unfortunately they were not stored very carefully an some discs have suffered tanning. This is mostly on the edges but there are a few that have tanned faces. There are also a number of discs with tanning on the backs. Otherwise none are stained and none have any writing. I would grade them 6-7 on a 10 scale (see condition guide below).

Cadaco All Star Baseball Game Parts 1961

The other game parts are in EXCELLENT condition. The game is 100% complete with all of the game components accounted for. It includes the playing field with 2 intact spinners, the scoreboard backdrop, 4 original wooden baserunner pegs and the scoresheets. There is some wear to the cardboard part of the spinners. No tears or creases. Overall I would grade the game parts 8 on a 10 scale (see condition guide below).

Cadaco All Star Baseball Game box 1961

The game box is in VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT condition. The lid has some general shelf wear including rubbing to the edges and corners and 2 split corners. The colors are very bright with no sun-fading or writing and only a couple very minor stains. The box bottom is in very nice shape with no splits or writing. Just a few light fingerprint stains. I would grade the box a 6-7 on a 10 scale (see condition guide below).

Did you ever notice that on that big auction site there seem to be a huge number of 1968 CADACO ALL STAR BASEBALL GAMES? Well one problem that novice sellers / collector's often run into is that the copyright date on the box and game parts remained the same for many years in a row, but every year CADACO put out a brand new set of player discs for ALL STAR BASEBALL. So you cannot determine the age of the game simply by looking at the copyright date. You need to know which players came with which edition.

Another thing you need to be aware of is that many players had more than one disc created for them. The discs were changed depending on the performance of a player during the previous year. So even if you do know the player names for a set you still need to be sure they are the correct discs for that particular set.

CONDITION GUIDE:

MINT (10):
I will only give this grade to brand new, unused items. NEAR MINT (9): Shows virtually no use. Seldom if ever played. Cards will have at worst some dented corners from shuffling around in the box. Perhaps some very light handling creases to the instructions or other minor flaws with the game parts. Boxes will have only the slightest hint of shelf wear.  EXCELLENT (7-8): The game has seen some use but it was obviously taken care of well. Cards may have denting to the corners, perhaps a few may have light stains or other very light handling wear, but the vast majority will be close to flawless. Game parts might have some light handling creases or other signs of careful use. Board might have just a hint of color loss or dented corners. Boxes will have light rubbing to the artwork or perhaps some minor dishing or a very light stain.  VERY GOOD (5-6): The game was not especially well cared for, but it still has fared pretty well. Cards will have dented corners and perhaps some may have rubber band wear to the edges. A few cards (less than 10%) may have handling creases, yellowing to the edges (a few may be yellowed on the faces), or light stains. Perhaps a couple may have writing or some dried rubber band residue (this will be noted). All card results will be fully readable. Other game parts will show obvious use but nothing will be torn, badly stained or have any serious damage. Box may have some rubbing, light staining, dishing, 1 or 2 neatly split corners, minor writing and/or a few pieces of tape. No major structural damage and artwork will still be generally attractive. GOOD (3-4): Obviously no care was taken with the game but it is still perfectly playable. Cards will show moderate to heavy use and many will be yellowed, stained, creased, written on or have rubber band residue. A couple may be torn and taped back together. All card results will be fully readable. Other game parts show considerable use but the game is complete with all parts in usable condition. Box may have staining, writing, split corners, dishing and/or other structural damage but it will be intact and still usable. POOR (1-2): Only suitable to fill a space in your collection. Cards are heavily worn and some are badly damaged. Game will be missing parts (these will be noted). Box will have serious damage and may be missing aprons or badly torn.
