Mickey Mantle Big League Baseball Game
One of the many
player-endorsed games of the 1950's.
This one has a lot of nice details like the autographed photo and the
batting records. The game was re-issued as part of the "Big 6 Sports
Games" package a few years later.
The game parts are in VERY GOOD condition. The game
has all it's original parts - autographed photo, stats card, 2
double-sided play cards, color die with shaker, 7 plastic pegs and the
board with the spinner. The instructions are printed on the inside of
the box lid. The parts show typical wear from handling and game play
but not abuse. No writing or signifcant stains. No tears. Some handling
creases. The spinner has wear along the track of it's path. Overall I
would grade the game parts 6 on a 10 scale (see condition guide below).
The game box is in GOOD condition. The lid has
suffered some crushing at the top, a small puncture near the lower
right corner and some chipping in places on the corners and edges.
There is what looks like the remains of a handwritten price of 20 cents
scribbled in the upper left corner. It has one split corner. The box
bottom has some crushing and has an inscription written in pencil
"Larry and Janice, Lancaster, Ohio June 11-57". I would grade it a 4 on
a 10 scale (see condition guide below).
(10): I will only give this grade
to brand new, unused items. NEAR MINT (9):
Shows virtually no use. Seldom if ever played.
Perhaps some very light handling creases to the
or other minor flaws with the game parts. Boxes will have
the slightest hint of shelf wear. EXCELLENT (7-8):
The game has seen some use but it was obviously well taken care of.
some light handling creases or other signs of
careful use. Board might have just a hint of color loss or
corners. Boxes will have light rubbing to the artwork or
some minor dishing or a very light stain. VERY GOOD (5-6):
The game was not especially well cared for but it still has
faired pretty well. Game
parts will show obvious use but nothing will be torn, badly
stained or have any serious damage. Box may have
rubbing, light staining, dishing, 1 or 2 neatly split corners,
minor writing and/or a few pieces of tape. No major
damage and artwork will still be generally attractive. GOOD (3-4):
Obviously no care was taken with the game but it is still playable as
is. Game parts show
considerable use but the game is complete with all parts in
condition. Box may have staining, writing, split
dishing and/or other structural damage but it will be intact and still
Only suitable to fill a space in your collection.
Game will be missing
parts (these will be noted). Box will have serious damage and
be missing aprons or badly torn.
