MANSFIELD-ZESIGER
Bambino Baseball Game
1946 Edition
|
A fun little action game.
The batter places the ball
on top of the spring and strikes it with the bat , as if you were
hitting a ball off a batting tee. The ball is hit towards the
grandstands and it's final resting place determines the outcome of the
play. The batter has 2 choices: 1) He can attempt to hit the ball
through one of the 3 circle cut-outs in the grandstand backdrop which
result in extra base hits (or strikes if you fail to get it through the
hole). 2) He can hit the ball over the grandstand and get his play
result by reading it from the notches on the top of the wall. Whichever
notch the string resides on after the ball has landed indicates the
play.

The game parts are in VERY
GOOD condition. Everything has been accounted for except for the spring
that is used as a tee. I'm sure you could rig something up. The playing
field is in nice shape with no stains or writing. The backdrop has some
fingerprint staining at the the bottom and a few scuff marks around the
holes and notches (nothing major). The bat and ball are free of cracks
or chips. The baserunner tokens have fingerprint stains but are
otherwise in good shape. No cracks or significant damage. The
promotional insert does not appear to be an original. Most likely a
scanned copy. Overall I would grade the game parts 6 on a 10 scale (see
condition guide below).

The game box is in
GOOD-VERY GOOD condition. There are 2 tears in the cover art where I
assume someone has removed some tape. Otherwise nice shape with no
splits, stains or writing. Just some light edge/corner scuffing. One of
the long aprons appears to be a bit sun-faded. The box bottom has a
number of tears in the covering. Not sure what that would have been
caused by. Perhaps it was mounted on the wall? I would grade the box a
4-5 on a 10 scale (see condition guide below).

CONDITION GUIDE:
MINT
(10): I will only give this grade
to brand new, unused items. NEAR MINT (9):
Shows virtually no use. Seldom if ever played.
Perhaps some very light handling creases to the
instructions
or other minor flaws with the game parts. Boxes will have
only
the slightest hint of shelf wear. EXCELLENT (7-8):
The game has seen some use but it was obviously well taken care of.
Game parts
might have
some light handling creases or other signs of
careful use. Board might have just a hint of color loss or
dented
corners. Boxes will have light rubbing to the artwork or
perhaps
some minor dishing or a very light stain. VERY GOOD (5-6):
The game was not especially well cared for but it still has
faired pretty well. Game
parts will show obvious use but nothing will be torn, badly
stained or have any serious damage. Box may have
some
rubbing, light staining, dishing, 1 or 2 neatly split corners,
minor writing and/or a few pieces of tape. No major
structural
damage and artwork will still be generally attractive. GOOD (3-4):
Obviously no care was taken with the game but it is still playable as
is. Game parts show
considerable use but the game is complete with all parts in
usable
condition. Box may have staining, writing, split
corners,
dishing and/or other structural damage but it will be intact and still
usable. POOR
(1-2):
Only suitable to fill a space in your collection.
Game will be missing
parts (these will be noted). Box will have serious damage and
may
be missing aprons or badly torn.
