Talking Baseball Game
This was the top of the
line for board games back in
1972. Super high tech with it's talking announcer this game was on
everyone's Christmas wish list. The game was very popular and was
re-packaged in a smaller version as Talking Monday Night Football in
1977. Mattel also produced a Talking Baseball game using the same
The game parts are in
EXCELLENT condition. The game includes all the components that
originally came with this edition of the game. The only thing missing
is 2 of the team names for the scoreboard (Dodgers and Giants). The
instructions and team rosters have some handling wear. Everything else
shows only light use.
I have thoroughly tested out the record player and it works as good as
can be expected. Keep in mind that these players were not great even
when new. They tend to sound "chipmunky" and/or warbley. You need to be
sure to use a brand new battery and you need to make sure you have a
good connection with the battery terminals. As long as you keep that in
mind it will play fine. I tested all the records and except for a few
scratchy parts they all play well and all the play results are
understandable. Overall I would grade the game parts 8 on a 10 scale
(see condition guide below).
The game box is in EXCELLENT condition. No stains or
writing, no splits or tears. Just some rubbing. I would grade it a 7 on
a 10 scale (see condition guide below).
(10): I will only give this grade
to brand new, unused items. NEAR MINT (9):
Shows virtually no use. Seldom if ever played.
Perhaps some very light handling creases to the
or other minor flaws with the game parts. Boxes will have
the slightest hint of shelf wear. EXCELLENT (7-8):
The game has seen some use but it was obviously well taken care of.
some light handling creases or other signs of
careful use. Board might have just a hint of color loss or
corners. Boxes will have light rubbing to the artwork or
some minor dishing or a very light stain. VERY GOOD (5-6):
The game was not especially well cared for but it still has
faired pretty well. Game
parts will show obvious use but nothing will be torn, badly
stained or have any serious damage. Box may have
rubbing, light staining, dishing, 1 or 2 neatly split corners,
minor writing and/or a few pieces of tape. No major
damage and artwork will still be generally attractive. GOOD (3-4):
Obviously no care was taken with the game but it is still playable as
is. Game parts show
considerable use but the game is complete with all parts in
condition. Box may have staining, writing, split
dishing and/or other structural damage but it will be intact and still
Only suitable to fill a space in your collection.
Game will be missing
parts (these will be noted). Box will have serious damage and
be missing aprons or badly torn.
