Baseball Football and Checkers Game
Parker Brothers issued a
number of different
baseball related games over the years. This was one of the earliest
with the oldest version dating to 1920's. The baseball version was
initially sold on it's own under the name "College Baseball". It was
then packaged with a football game and checkers as a "Double Game
Board" then again re-branded as "3 games in 1". The artwork for the
game changed a number of times during the 30+ years it was produced. It
remained basically the same - a simple dice-drived game.
The game parts are in VERY
condition. The game was missing the baseball instructions but
I have included a photocopy. The Football instructions are original and
these show typical stains and light creasing. All the checkers are
accounted for, as are the 4 colored pawns, the dice and 2 of the 3 push
pin markers. There is no dice cup. The board has some stain spots and a
few other random marks but on the whole good shape. Spine is in solid
with no danger of tearing. So
basically everything you need to play the game is included with the
exception of one push pin marker which can easily be
substituted. I would
grade the game 5 on a 10
scale (see condition guide below).
The game box is in
condition. It has some typical age-related staining, particularly on 2
of the sides, but nothing too terrible. There is also creasing in
places. No split corners but a tear in the middle of one of the short
sides. Box bottom has typical staining as well but again no splits.
There is no writing anywhere on the box. I would grade
it 4-5 on a 10 scale (see condition guide below).
(10): I will only give this grade
to brand new, unused items. NEAR MINT (9):
Shows virtually no use. Seldom if ever played.
Perhaps some very light handling creases to the
or other minor flaws with the game parts. Boxes will have
the slightest hint of shelf wear. EXCELLENT (7-8):
The game has seen some use but it was obviously well taken care of.
some light handling creases or other signs of
careful use. Board might have just a hint of color loss or
corners. Boxes will have light rubbing to the artwork or
some minor dishing or a very light stain. VERY GOOD (5-6):
The game was not especially well cared for but it still has
faired pretty well. Game
parts will show obvious use but nothing will be torn, badly
stained or have any serious damage. Box may have
rubbing, light staining, dishing, 1 or 2 neatly split corners,
minor writing and/or a few pieces of tape. No major
damage and artwork will still be generally attractive. GOOD (3-4):
Obviously no care was taken with the game but it is still playable as
is. Game parts show
considerable use but the game is complete with all parts in
condition. Box may have staining, writing, split
dishing and/or other structural damage but it will be intact and still
Only suitable to fill a space in your collection.
Game will be missing
parts (these will be noted). Box will have serious damage and
be missing aprons or badly torn.
