Action Hockey Table Game
1973 Esposito Edition
This is a really fun
vintage game that uses magnets
mounted in the heads and feet of the skaters to allow you to move them
inside the rink below the plastic lid. Pretty much plays like a cross
between table hockey and air hockey. The game was endorsed by the famed
Esposito Brothers who played for the Bruins and Blackhawks during the
early 70's when this game came out.
The game parts are in VERY
GOOD-EXCELLENT condition. It includes nearly everything you need to
play the game: a complete set of players (6 per team), 2 pucks, 2
scoring pegs (one broken at the point), 2 controller magnets, the
instructions, the rink with clear plastic cover and the stands. All the
players and controllers have their magnets. The game is missing 2 of
the 4 original controllers. It should not be too difficult to make
substitutes as the controller is really just a small rod with a magnet
attached to the end. The clear cover has some scuffing but that is to
be expected since the players rub against it during game play. Other
than a broken piece on one of the corners it is in really
good shape. Much better than the way you typically find these games.
Overall I would grade the game parts 6-7 on a 10 scale (see condition
The game box is in GOOD
condition. It is pretty beat
up and has some tape on it but it is useable. Looks like it has
suffered a little sun-fading. I would grade it a 4 on a 10 scale (see
condition guide below).
(10): I will only give this grade
to brand new, unused items. NEAR MINT (9):
Shows virtually no use. Seldom if ever played.
Perhaps some very light handling creases to the
or other minor flaws with the game parts. Boxes will have
the slightest hint of shelf wear. EXCELLENT (7-8):
The game has seen some use but it was obviously well taken care of.
some light handling creases or other signs of
careful use. Board might have just a hint of color loss or
corners. Boxes will have light rubbing to the artwork or
some minor dishing or a very light stain. VERY GOOD (5-6):
The game was not especially well cared for but it still has
faired pretty well. Game
parts will show obvious use but nothing will be torn, badly
stained or have any serious damage. Box may have
rubbing, light staining, dishing, 1 or 2 neatly split corners,
minor writing and/or a few pieces of tape. No major
damage and artwork will still be generally attractive. GOOD (3-4):
Obviously no care was taken with the game but it is still playable as
is. Game parts show
considerable use but the game is complete with all parts in
condition. Box may have staining, writing, split
dishing and/or other structural damage but it will be intact and still
Only suitable to fill a space in your collection.
Game will be missing
parts (these will be noted). Box will have serious damage and
be missing aprons or badly torn.
