Baseball Football and Checkers Game
Parker Brothers issued a
number of different
baseball related games over the years. This was one of the earliest
with the oldest version dating to 1920's. The baseball version was
initially sold on it's own under the name "College Baseball". It was
then packaged with a football game and checkers as a "Double Game
Board" then again re-branded as "3 games in 1". The artwork for the
game changed a number of times during the 30+ years it was produced. It
remained basically the same though - a simple dice-drived game.
The game parts are in VERY
condition. All the parts have been accounted for and they are
all original to this edition of the game. The board has a few scuff
marks on the edges and corners and some small stains (mostly the
football side). No tears or other significant damage. Baseball
instructions have some stains and the sample scoresheet on the back was
filled in by the previous owner. The football instructions have light
handling wear. Neither is torn or badly damaged. Game also includes the
original dice, original dice shaker and the hard to find original cork
with the push-pin markers. Even has all the inner cardboard packing
materials. A nice complete set. I would grade the game parts 6
on a 10
scale (see condition guide below).
The game box is in VERY
condition. The lid has typical shelf wear including some light stains
and some scuffing to the edges and corners. 1 corner has been mended
with scotch tape. The box bottom has some yellowing, stains and a stray
pencil mark, but still in pretty decent shape considering the age.
Overall I would grade
the box a 5 on a 10 scale (see condition guide below).
Price includes shipping
(10): I will only give this grade
to brand new, unused items. NEAR MINT (9):
Shows virtually no use. Seldom if ever played.
Perhaps some very light handling creases to the
or other minor flaws with the game parts. Boxes will have
the slightest hint of shelf wear. EXCELLENT (7-8):
The game has seen some use but it was obviously well taken care of.
some light handling creases or other signs of
careful use. Board might have just a hint of color loss or
corners. Boxes will have light rubbing to the artwork or
some minor dishing or a very light stain. VERY GOOD (5-6):
The game was not especially well cared for but it still has
faired pretty well. Game
parts will show obvious use but nothing will be torn, badly
stained or have any serious damage. Box may have
rubbing, light staining, dishing, 1 or 2 neatly split corners,
minor writing and/or a few pieces of tape. No major
damage and artwork will still be generally attractive. GOOD (3-4):
Obviously no care was taken with the game but it is still playable as
is. Game parts show
considerable use but the game is complete with all parts in
condition. Box may have staining, writing, split
dishing and/or other structural damage but it will be intact and still
Only suitable to fill a space in your collection.
Game will be missing
parts (these will be noted). Box will have serious damage and
be missing aprons or badly torn.
