RGI was a prolific
stat-based sports game creator during the late 60's and early 70's.
Their series included Vince Lombardi Football, Fran Tarkenton Football,
Oscar Robertson Basketball Strategy / Fast Break, Gil Hodges Pennant
Fever Baseball, Jackie Stewart Racing and Rocky Graziano Boxing. During
the early-mid 70's, when the sports leagues began demanding higher
compensation, RGI dropped out of the statistical replay genre and
converted their catalog to basic sports strategy games. They did
however continue to pay athletes to endorse their games and these games
were released under the "PLAY THE PROS MONIKER". Starting in
the mid-late 70's at least 2 other companies issued these games under
different names. For the sake of completion I have included them here,
but be aware that these later games are not replay games. This
particular game is a 6-in-1 package of most of the later games. It
includes Baseball, Football, Basketball, Hockey, Auto Racing and
Tennis.
