NFL Strategy Football Briefcase Game
A really nice treatment of
this classic game. Comes
in an imitation pigskin covered briefcase. While the mechanical timer
spring mechanism for determining play outcomes were really innovative
touches to the original 1970's game, they tended to break down and
cause problems over time. These were both done away with
for this edition (replaced by a timeline and dice respectively). I have
come across versions of the briefcase edition with slightly different
plays (1987 and 1988).
The game parts are in
EXCELLENT condition. All the parts have been accounted for.
They show minimal handling. The plastic piece at the top used to keep
track of downs, timing, etc is loose. I tried gluing it with Elmer's
Glue but it may not hold up during shipping. It will be an easy fix.
Otherwise everything is in great shape. I would grade the game parts 8
on a 10 scale (see condition guide below).
The briefcase is in VERY
GOOD condition. No cuts, writing or other markings. Hinges and clasps
in perfect working order. It looks like someone wiped it down and
smudged the black tint that was applied. Nothing major but it is
noticeable. I would grade it 6 on a 10 scale (see condition guide
The outer cardboard slip
case is in GOOD condition. There is a large tear in the cover art and
some of the flaps are missing. I would grade it 4 on a 10 scale (see
condition guide below).
(10): I will only give this grade
to brand new, unused items. NEAR MINT (9):
Shows virtually no use. Seldom if ever played.
Perhaps some very light handling creases to the
or other minor flaws with the game parts. Boxes will have
the slightest hint of shelf wear. EXCELLENT (7-8):
The game has seen some use but it was obviously well taken care of.
some light handling creases or other signs of
careful use. Board might have just a hint of color loss or
corners. Boxes will have light rubbing to the artwork or
some minor dishing or a very light stain. VERY GOOD (5-6):
The game was not especially well cared for but it still has
faired pretty well. Game
parts will show obvious use but nothing will be torn, badly
stained or have any serious damage. Box may have
rubbing, light staining, dishing, 1 or 2 neatly split corners,
minor writing and/or a few pieces of tape. No major
damage and artwork will still be generally attractive. GOOD (3-4):
Obviously no care was taken with the game but it is still playable as
is. Game parts show
considerable use but the game is complete with all parts in
condition. Box may have staining, writing, split
dishing and/or other structural damage but it will be intact and still
Only suitable to fill a space in your collection.
Game will be missing
parts (these will be noted). Box will have serious damage and
be missing aprons or badly torn.
